The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. COP29 will bring together leaders from governments, business, and civil society to advance concrete solutions to the defining issue of our time.
Main objectives of COP 29
COP 29 aims to advance global efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The conference will focus on:
reviewing and updating national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
advance discussions on climate finance, ensuring that developed countries meet their pledges to support developing nations in transitioning to sustainable economies and building resilience against climate impacts.
establish effective mechanisms to address the irreversible effects of climate change on vulnerable communities
